Healthy Weight Gain During NS: A Safe Plan

Practical guides for Singapore NSFs and NSMen

Trying to gain weight during National Service is not just an instruction to “eat more”. Camp meals, training load, appetite, book-out routines and medical fitness all affect what the problem actually is.

The useful first step is to separate a stable low body weight from recent unintentional loss, poor recovery or symptoms during training. Then build a small, repeatable meal routine and a short record that a doctor, dietitian, Medical Officer, commander or instructor can act on if the concern does not improve.

This guide is unofficial and is not medical or dietetic advice. Your current medical status, clinician or dietitian's plan, food-allergy instructions, commanders, training safety brief and service-specific rules override it.
