NS Skills Certificates: Check Your Civilian Records

You may remember completing a course during NS but be unsure whether it produced a civilian qualification. Start by checking the actual award and issuer. A military course, a WSQ Statement of Attainment and a professional licence can demonstrate different things.
This guide helps you assemble accurate certificate evidence. It does not promise accreditation for every vocation or tell an employer what qualification it must accept.

Understand the 2026 announcement
MINDEF's 27 February 2026 fact sheet announced a trial from the second half of 2026 with selected SAF Training Institutes. Certificates acquired during full-time and operationally ready NS would be displayed in the serviceman's Career and Skills Passport, with industry-related skills mapped to them.
That announcement describes a selected-institute trial. It does not establish that every historical SAF course has already appeared in every serviceman's account. If a record is missing, ask whether your course and cohort are covered before treating it as a system error.
Separate the documents you have
Create a small inventory with the exact title, issuing organisation, completion date and available file. Keep the title as written, even if the course had a different nickname in your unit.

Do not combine several certificates into a qualification you have not been awarded. A course relevant to an industry also does not, by itself, establish permission to practise a regulated profession.
Check the official digital record
SkillsFuture Singapore's WSQ digital-certificate guidance directs trainees to their Careers & Skills Passport to view or download certificates. It says new WSQ Statements of Attainment and full qualifications use OpenCerts from 1 July 2024 onwards.
Sign in through the official service and compare the record with your own completion details. Check the name, award title and date rather than looking only for the familiar course nickname. Download the available original certificate file and keep it in a private folder.
An empty search result is not proof that you failed the course. It may require clarification about the award, issuer or record. Conversely, attendance alone is not proof that a qualification was issued.
Preserve the verification format
MySkillsFuture's download guide explains how to obtain a PDF and recommends retaining OpenCerts for authenticity checks and protection against tampering. A PDF can be convenient when an application asks for one; keep the original verification-capable file too.
Use a clear filename such as the award title and year. Do not edit the certificate's wording to make it sound closer to the vacancy. If an employer needs an explanation, write that separately in your application or covering message.
Only share the requested documents through the employer's intended channel. A public portfolio does not need to contain every certificate, identifying detail or military training record.
Resolve a missing or incorrect award
Prepare the exact course name, training period, issuing organisation and any permitted completion evidence. Ask the training or administrative contact who owns the award record. If the issue concerns a WSQ digital certificate, use SkillsFuture's official assistance route.
Keep the question narrow: “Was an award issued for this course and cohort, and which issuer should correct this record?” That is easier to investigate than asking why all your NS achievements are absent from one portal.
Do not repeatedly upload the same case to several channels without explaining prior references. Keep a simple log so you can follow up with the current case owner.
Use the evidence in a job application
Pick certificates that support the role's requirements. Explain relevance in plain language, while copying the qualification title accurately. For example, describe a verified logistics competency as evidence of logistics training; do not claim a degree equivalence or unrestricted professional status.
If an award is still being checked, distinguish “course completed” from “certificate issued” and “record under clarification”. Accurate wording protects you from promising evidence you cannot supply at the interview.
