Moving house creates several different admin jobs: recording your residential address, keeping your phone and email reachable, and checking whether an NS notice already needs action. Treat them as separate checks rather than assuming one successful form updates everything immediately.

This unofficial checklist is for pre-enlistees, NSFs and NSmen arranging a move. It does not determine your obligations from an individual call-up or notice.

Quick version
  • Complete ICA address registration and verification.
  • Check your own service’s NS profile and reachable contact details.
  • Review outstanding notices separately from the profile correction.

Start with the residential-address requirement

ICA says IC holders must report a residential-address change within 28 days of moving, including a move to an overseas residence. Its current process includes an online application, address verification using a mailed PIN, and an address sticker for successful applicants. Check your application status through the same service. See ICA's change-of-address instructions.

Record the date you actually moved and when you submitted the application. Keep a reminder to complete verification rather than treating submission as the end of the process. If the PIN mailer does not arrive or the service cannot handle your situation, use ICA's assistance route on that page.

These reminders are a practical filing method; follow the service's actual instructions and deadlines if they differ from your personal reminder.

Check the NS profile separately

MINDEF directs pre-enlistees, NSFs, NSmen and SAFVC Volunteers to the My Personal Information eService on OneNS for self-updating personal particulars. Start from MINDEF's official profile-update answer rather than a link in an unexpected message.

For Home Team NSmen, MHA describes its Manage My Profile service as the route for updating personal particulars used for operational requirements, including contact information.

Check the fields available to you and follow the instructions beside them. If an address is read-only or appears to come from another government record, use the specified correction route. Do not repeatedly submit incompatible values in an attempt to force a synchronisation.

Test whether people can actually reach you

A correct-looking number is only useful if the line works. After changing numbers, check that the saved number includes the intended digits and that you can receive ordinary calls and messages. Check your email spelling and whether you still have access to that inbox.

If you are leaving a school or employer, consider whether an old institutional mailbox will close. Update the contact record through the official service before relying on a replacement mailbox for important notices.

Where your unit maintains its own contact list, ask whether it needs an update too. Tell the relevant administrator what changed; there is no need to broadcast your home address in a large informal group chat.

Review notices already issued

A profile correction does not tell you whether a previously issued enlistment notice, appointment or call-up has been dealt with. Review upcoming activities and any messages you already received. If a notice is missing or an action is overdue, contact the responsible office with the facts and ask what you must do next.

Keep the two questions distinct: “Is my contact record now correct?” and “Is there an outstanding instruction I need to act on?” Resolving the first does not itself answer the second.

Use a small completion record

You can keep a private checklist with four lines: ICA application status; NS profile checked; unit contact list checked where applicable; outstanding notices reviewed. Add the date and reference number when a service supplies one.

Do not store your Singpass password, verification codes or full identity documents in that checklist. A reference number and a description of the unresolved field are usually enough to help you follow up without assembling an unnecessary identity bundle.

When the records disagree

Report the precise mismatch: which service, which field, what you submitted and when. Include an error message or a carefully redacted screenshot only if the official support route requests it. Ask which record is authoritative and what completion signal to expect.

If your move is overseas, separately review any applicable NS travel or Exit Permit requirements. Updating a residential address should never be treated as travel permission or as confirmation that another NS obligation has ended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does submitting the ICA form finish the job?

Check the application status and complete the verification steps the service requires.

Should I repeatedly overwrite a read-only address?

No. Use the correction route identified by the service and report a precise mismatch if help is needed.

What if an NS notice was already issued?

Review it separately and contact the responsible office about any action required; a profile update does not answer that question.
