SAF Medical Records: Privacy and Access
The practical question is often bigger than “what does eHealth show?” Servicemen want to know who can access SAF medical information, whether mental-health information is treated differently, what an employer or insurer receives, and how to obtain their own formal record.
MINDEF gave a direct public answer in May 2026: SAF medical information, including mental-health information, is kept strictly confidential, access is restricted to authorised personnel, and the information is not shared with civilian employers or insurers.
That answer is important, but it does not turn every employment, insurance, or report request into the same question. This guide separates those issues. It is unofficial, and current MINDEF, eHealth, employer, insurer, and written application instructions override it.
